Tulsa Opera

Tulsa Opera Songs by Heart is an engagement-centered program developed for Memory Care Communities in which a professional level singer leads an interactive sing-along. The singers use therapeutic techniques such as mirroring, verbal and gestural promptings, making direct eye contact, and holding hands with residents throughout the program. Singers encourage residents to join in the singing, clapping, and dancing, as well as engage in conversations centered around the musical selections. Starting June 13, 2024, this community Songs by Heart session meets in person on Thursdays from 2:00-2:45 p.m. at the Tulsa Opera office (1610 South Boulder Ave.). Classes are free to those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. The room will be open fifteen minutes before the program. Please arrive early to have time to get settled. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes.
